What Is it...
A 60 minute team session (with the option to include both athletes and parents - if a coach believes it would be beneficial) designed to give players a real, relatable perspective on the recruiting journey—especially when their path doesn’t look “traditional.”

Who is it for...
If your athletes are dealing with performance anxiety, comparing themselves to teammates, or feeling pressure around September 1st and the race to get recruited and commit quickly, this session meets them where they are and gives them tools to move forward with clarity and confidence.

The goal
To share my honest, unconventional recruiting story—one that challenges the idea that there’s only one “right” way to succeed. Athletes will hear the realities behind recruiting, including the fact that even top recruits face challenges, and early success doesn’t always guarantee long-term outcomes at the college level. The focus is on helping them see that their unique path, talents, and skills can still lead to meaningful success.

What I’ll cover

I’ll start by sharing my personal journey, then connect it directly to how each athlete can:

  • Leverage what makes them different to stand out in the recruiting process

  • Manage social media pressure and expectations

  • Build tools to handle performance anxiety in competition

  • Navigate family and external pressure with a healthier, more grounded mindset

Interactive component:
This isn’t just a talk—it’s a working session. Athletes will:

  • Participate in a guided journaling exercise

    • Identify 2–3 personal strengths that set them apart (on and off the field)

    • Learn how to apply those strengths in real game or practice situations

  • Learn tools to help manage performance anxiety and recruiting pressures

    • Box breathing - managing the breath when anxious thoughts arise

    • Routine Building - talk through making a pregame routine and using it every time (controlling the controllables)

    • Power of Visualization

      • Use the tool of visualizing 2-3 moments that you want to happen during the game or your practice (can do it in the car on the way to the field, during circle stretch, during the national anthem, etc. - pick your moment)

  • End by engaging in open team discussion around current challenges, including recruiting stress, comparison, and family expectations - and methods to manage this

Outcome
Athletes leave with a clearer sense of who they are, how to use their strengths, and how to approach recruiting and performance with more confidence, perspective, and control.
